When was your hen night?

A Friday night, three weeks before the wedding - I didn’t want a hangover for the big day.The bucks was the same night, in case the boys decided to shave off my husband’s eyebrows, so there was time for them to grow back.

Who organized it?

My super-chic bridesmaids.

Did you go for the whole hen’s weekend or just a hen’s night?

As our wedding was a whole weekend affair, the hen’s was for one night only, but I did have a kitchen tea too (never say no to a cupcake).

What sort of activities did you have?

I’m known to be pretty squeamish about strippers and have a low tackiness threshold, so they avoided the penises/dress made of condoms etc. They had to be creative! When I arrived I was met with 60 versions of me, in black dresses – my friends were all holding up masks of my face. It was weird! Very Being John Malkovich. After that shock, it was just chic: canapés, champagne and a lot of dancing.

Where did you go?

Lo Studio, Surry Hills, Sydney (www.lostudio.com.au, 02 92124118) then on to  Lady Lux ,Roslyn St,Kings Cross, Sydney( 02 93615000).

Who was the star of the night?

Are you serious? Me of course!  If there’s one night in your life on which you can be an attention-seeking diva and not get into trouble for it, it’s your hen’s night!

Any funny stories you can disclose?!

While we were sipping bubbles thanking god there were no strippers, my husband-to-be was playing lawn bowls dressed – inexplicably – as a clown complete with rainbow afro and giant shoes. His groomsmen kindly texted us photographic evidence.

Did you have to do anything you really didn’t want to do? If so what and what were the consequences?

I’m not the type to smooch a gigolo just because it’s my last night of freedom. What’s that all about anyway? Presumably you weren’t getting it on with hot toy boys before your hen’s night either, so what’s the big deal about forsaking that when you’re a missus?

If you were organizing a hen’s night or weekend for a mate?!

It depends who the friend was. For a smaller group, a day on a boat or a weekend up the coast could be amazing. It’s just about hanging out with your friends really – as long you all get dressed up and have fun it doesn’t matter where you are.
