1. When was your hen night?
Saturday 12 January 2008. It was a cold, rainy (typical Sydney summer!) evening but it didn’t matter at all! We didn’t even notice the weather!
2. Who organized it?
I had nothing to do with it! My instructions were “Just turn up Em!” which was such a nice change for me. My friends Amber and Narelle organized it with help from my sister and sisters in law (and of course the mums!)
3. Did you go for the whole hen’s weekend or just a hen’s night?
One night was plenty enough!
4. What sort of activities did you have?
The hen’s night was on our friend’s beautiful boat, Stealth, this boat has sentimentality for Rowan (my husband) and I as it’s where we first started our relationship on a summer holiday a few years back.
We were greeted by two lovely ah, gentlemen, wearing nothing but pants and umbrellas! The very sophisticated and stylish Hire A Hunk were great. They made us drinks and we played games (my fave was eating strategically placed marshmallows off one of the boys!).
The girls had interviewed Rowan on video and asked him a series of questions about me, and our relationship. I had to answer the same questions, and if I got an answer wrong, they’d make me have a shot. Dangerous. You want to do your research before you play this game, or at least try find a husband that doesn’t deliberately give incorrect answers!
5. Where did you go?
We just cruised around the harbour for the evening.
6. Did you have to do anything you really didn’t want to do? If so what and what were the consequences?
Nope not at all. You just have to go with the flow and have fun. Your friends know you, and know what you’d like, so you just have to trust in that.
7. If you were organizing a hen’s night or weekend for a mate (or having yours again!), what would you like to do/not do?!
The same! It’s so rare to get a bunch of girlfriends together for a night out these days – ours was fun and funny – we just giggled the whole time, drank, ate lots of yummy food and had a ball.
