Tiffani Wood & Mum

Tiffani Wood, the hugely talented singer/songwriter, burlesque styled performer and all-round fabulous chick, married her partner of 18 months, Neil Cummins in the beautiful Byron Hinterland on the 28th January 2007 and they are expecting their first baby shortly.

1. When was your hen night?

27th January 2007, the day before my wedding.

2.  Who organized it?

I organized most of it because I love events and party planning then had two girlfriends follow things up – one of them did the food, the other games and then the group of us pulled it all together on the day.

3. Did you go for the whole hen’s weekend or just a hen’s night?

I just did a hen’s afternoon/evening really, because my wedding was the next day so it couldn’t be a hugely raucous affair (not to mention I am pregnant!). However our wedding was a whole weekend in Byron, so guests were in a holiday house from Thursday 25th until Monday 30th and we called it the “hen’s house”, but the actual hen’s day went from 1 til 7pm.
It was held at Possum Creek in the Byron hinterland in a private holiday house. After the official hen’s afternoon, some of us also went down to the famous Buddha Bar in (Byron) town for dinner and drinks as the wedding was the next day.

4. What sort of activities did you have?

It was a Hawaiian hen’s and we had a live duo singing by the pool and a Polynesian dance show for an hour - everyone received a lei on arrival and we played pass the parcel. We also had a piñata and a masseuse giving neck and feet massages. The girls also did a quiz for me on “how well do you know your fiancé?”, but mostly it was just swimming and chatting.

5. Any funny stories you can disclose?

Well, my friend organized for two men to be waiters and serve drinks from ‘Man Power’ and they never turned up, so that was a big disappointment, but we played with a piñata and I ended up hitting it so hard it flew into the pool and all the lollies got drenched! We had two gay guys at the hen’s party and when the Polynesian performers came on with a cute dancer guy, one of them went wild (he was a little drunk)!

6. Did you have to do anything you really didn’t want to do?

Nope, because I mainly organized it myself, I did exactly what I really wanted. It was just a great fun, relaxed day.

7. If you were organizing a hen’s night or weekend for a mate (or having yours again!), what would you like to do/not do?!

It’d do it all the same, but this time I wouldn’t be seven months pregnant!
