Hen's Party Do's & Don'ts

Hens Party!

Hens Party!

HEN’S PARTY DO’S AND DON’TS

It’s definitely hen’s /wedding season now and girls are getting themselves organised for some great days and nights out… Whatever you’re planning, you’re sure to have a great time.

By the way, we hope you didn’t have your hopes pinned on a Spring Carnival Race Day, because that’s looking just a little bit iffy at the moment, which is a huge shame, because a day at the races in your glad rags sipping champers and nibbling at canapés is one of the best days you can have (as long as you get the proper tickets into a nice enclosure that has catering!).

We’re sure that the races will go ahead anyway, but if not, Hens.com.au has lots of alternatives for activities which are just as fun.

* ASK THE HEN WHAT SHE WOULD REALLY LIKE TO DO

It’s her day for maximum enjoyment, not a day for humiliation or laughter at her expense… And make sure you also listen to her when she lets you know what she DOESN’T want to do… she’s your best friend so make sure you give her exactly what she wants (but a few surprises are allowed!).

* ORGANISE EVERYTHING IN DETAIL AND WELL IN ADVANCE.

Hen’s parties are generally for around 10 or more girls and popular venues and activities get booked up months in advance, so be organised.

* BE MINDFUL OF COST AND OTHER GUESTS

Girls love to splash out on hen’s activities, but if you’re desperate to do something really expensive, check with everyone first on what they’d be happy to spend. Generally around $50-100 per head, all in would be fine. Also remember there are likely to be mums and possibly grannies involved, so don’t do anything you wouldn’t want your mum or granny to be party to!

 * GET THE GIRLS TO PREPAY FOR PLANNED ACTIVITIES...

not on the night. But for drinks in bars etc, allocate a kitty monitor and get money from everyone in advance – just start at $20 each and review the situation later!

 * HOME-BASED OR HOTEL BASED...

activities are great to get the party started and also for girls to get to know each other – not all the hen’s friends will have met before.

* PRIVATE, GROUP ACTIVITIES ARE BEST

They allow you to have fun together and catch up properly, not just try to communicate across a loud, crowded bar… Things like weekends in the wine region, high tea parties, beauty salon trips, life drawing class etc.

*  KEEP IT SIMPLE – NO MORE THAN 2-3 DESTINATIONS...

is best because taxis can be a nightmare, people get lost etc. If you are going to do a bit of a crawl, get a mini bus! It costs very little divided between you all.

 * GAMES AND QUIZZES...

about the hen and her husband to be are great to get everyone involved and for girls to get to know each other at the beginning of the day/evening.

* DON’T LET THE HEN GO OFF WITH ANOTHER PARTY OR MAN...

at the end of the evening! It’s your responsibility to give her a great time and ensure she does make it to the wedding!

 * KEEP SUPPLIES FOR THE MORNING AFTER!

A few packets of Nurofen, stomach settlers and lots of water.
