It's Race Day!
Spring Carnival Hens - Hens.com.au Top Tips for a Diginified Hens' Day at the Races.
Well this time of year is traditionally the time when hens go mad at the races and there are plenty of girls heading to Randwick, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, GC, Perth and other parts of the country for the Derby, Melbourne Cup and Spring Carnival races.
We know that these sorts of days can be long, champagne-fuelled events, and given Hens.com.au is the website for stylish hens and their friends, we’ve got a few words of advice for classy chicks to keep their dignity on race day.
* Betting: only ever bet with someone else’s money. Just like the Queen, classy chicks never carry cash!
* Drinking: OK, it’s a long day and we know you’re going to be partaking in the bubbly stuff, so alternate between sips of champagne and water, not champagne and bourbon!
* Floaty Dresses: It can be windy at this time of year, girls and you need to keep your dignity at all times, so make sure floaty dresses have a more fitted lining; you have recently been to the waxing parlour and you have your best knickers on! Better still go for the chic fitted pants, heels and floaty top option.
* Hair: Best ‘dos are up with bobby pins or down ‘dos under hats or kept in place with a cleverly placed fascinator. Take a brush and spare pins in your handbag.
* Handbag Essentials must include: printed address/tel of where you’re staying (for taxi drivers only) plus business/name cards for potential suitors (only if you’re NOT the hen!)
* Handbags: Clutches with wrist straps are the best, so you can be sure you won’t lose that bag later on in the day when the champagne kicks in.
* Makeup: Keep it simple, natural and protect from the sun/wind. Waterproof mascara is a must – wind and heat can also make your eyes run; SPF tinted moisturiser to keep your face sunburn free; SPF lip protector/gloss (strawberry flavour – works well with champagne).
* Men: It’s all very tempting at the Races because all men look great in suits, but please, do NOT go home with one of these studs if you’re the hen!
* TAXI! If at all possible pre-book a taxi, mini bus or limo to collect you. Nothing worse than well-heeled gals stumbling down roads hailing any old Ford Falcon that comes along. Also very dangerous.
Have a dignified and classy race day, Chicks!
